A Local Planner's Guide

Small & Micro Wedding Venues in NYC

When you start planning your small wedding venue in New York, think first of the venues that are already there and don't need any further decorations. New York is full of unique and ready-to-go locations, such as the Bow Bridge or Bethesda Terrace in Central Park, or a boardwalk with the iconic Brooklyn Bridge view. A private rooftop with stunning views of the Empire State Building or the public rooftop of pier 57 are perfect for intimate wedding ceremonies.

I am Tatiana Caicedo, the co-founder of Dare to Dream NYC. I have planned proposals, elopements and weddings for the past 11 years in New York. And since 2018, I have mainly focused on micro weddings and intimate celebrations. In 2025, the New York Times featured me in its article dedicated to the art of small wedding planning.

“Instead of inviting 200 people and feeling overwhelmed, why not host an intimate wedding where you can actually enjoy the day and connect with every guest?”Tatiana Caicedo, in The New York Times

What makes the best micro wedding venues in NYC?

After 11 years, I can definitely say that micro wedding venues don't need anything to add to them. The location speaks for itself, it photographs well and suits the purpose of a short and meaningful ceremony. It is also very easy to plan as all we need is a 21- day notice to apply for a permit to secure the location within a park. As I told the Times, our couples put their budget into the things they can keep ( such as photography and video) and the whole experience ( vintage car pick up, fancy restaurant dining after the ceremony).

The most popular small wedding venues in NYC

The most popular small wedding venue in NYC is, of course, the Bow Bridge in Central Park. This location is absolutely stunning with the lake and skyline views in one frame. Bethesda Terrace and Cop Cot would be the second most popular spots. These locations are designed for larger groups and can hold 20/30 guests. Top of the Rock would be the third most popular spot. It is a perfect public location for a small ceremony and its ideal for wedding photography. You can find all of them at the Featured Venues above.

I have planned proposals, elopements and small weddings for 11 years. Was featured in the New York Times as a small wedding planner in New York. All the information, pictures, and couples are from real ceremonies we have produced in NYC.

Why are couples choosing smaller weddings?

The major shift happened after the pandemic, when the average guest count fell from 200 to 116 guests and less. Generally, a 100 - guest wedding starts at $50000 and up, whether 50- guest wedding average is $15000 - 25000. Although smaller doesn't mean cheaper, the couples just redirect the budget to the experience and things they can keep.
